Trash-the-Dress / Wayne & Kirst

Some Trash-the-Dress lovin’

To be honest, I haven’t done many of these.  Why not you may ask!  I have no clue.  The are the BEST fun.  After the tension and high energy vibe of the wedding day, the t-the-d is such a brilliant “bring-things-down-to-earth” or soak the daylights out of them, kind of shoot.

Needless to say Kirst and Wayne embraced the trash-the-dress shoot for all it was worth.  The dress (which I’m relieved to say wasn’t really her wedding dress) was pretty trashed, well jolly dirty anyway.  Wayne , clearly a bum man, managed to cop a feel  on every single shoot  (note E-shoot and wedding day).  The fabricator (aka fascinator – and if you don’t know what it is, thats your problem) was also the subject of much humour.  Even Ruby, my Bull Mastiff princess, got in on some of the shots.  Think she was really a tad nervous that Wayne (or Kirst) was drowning especially with the lifting-up-in-the-air with copious amounts of water deluging in the face shots.

In fine form, the day ended with a yummy bottle of bubbles after huge amounts of mirth.

KZN Weddings |  Grant & Vera

It was second time around for both Grant and Vera.  They almost made it to the magistrates court but their nearest and dearest wouldn’t hear of it.

I’m so glad they didn’t! Instead close friends and family decided that they too wanted to share in their nuptials so  Granny Mouse Country House in Balgowan was booked.  A truly special  day and a testament to the path they have travelled to get there (which I gather was not the easiest).

Vera’s daughter, Jenna was a major part of the whole affair.   From getting dressed with her Mom, walking with her up the aisle, to the handing over of the rings.

Grant and Vera, the images speak volumes – you make each other laugh and enjoy each others company .  Two warm-hearted, kind and loving people, may your life together be beautiful, peaceful and loving going forward.  It was a privilege being a part of your day.

Thank you for choosing me as your photographer <3

KZN Food Photography {HARTFORD HOUSE}

KZN Food Photography – Chef Constantijn Hahndiek

My passion for food and photography continues unabated…….so I was of course rather thrilled when the GM from Hartford House – Duncan Bruce – called me to set up our next shoot.  They had a VIP guest,  restaurant crit and blogger, Chris Von Ulmenstein and Chef Tijn was preparing some special dishes.  I have to admit,  I got to taste each and although they were all beautifully presented, smelled sensational and tasted divine – the Quail did it for me.

KZN Food Photography – Hartford House

As much as I love photography, and am passionate about making beautiful images, I also love fine cuisine.

My journey with food and photography started a few years back when I did the food and interior photography for the new Bread & Butter Coffee Shop in Cape Town.

Since then I’ve dabbled here and there, not really focussing on food as much as trying to establish my own unique style.

So, when Duncan Bruce from Hartford House phoned me up and invited me to spend the afternoon at the gorgeous Hartford House off the Hlatikulu road, near Mooi River,  I realised how much I really really love photographing food.  Although how could one not – in such sublime surroundings.  Chef “Tijne” had used the theme of “seasons” for his dishes,  so I decided the best way to capture the essence  of each dish, was to shoot outside, in natural light, using the elements I found around me.  Fish ponds, sun dials, veggie garden, stone pathways –    all worked like a charm.

Here are some of the images and a few of the actual grand dame herself.

Thanks Duncan, for giving me the opportunity.  I sincerely look forward to many more.
