KZN Midlands Family Photography | Gowrie Farm

We were blessed with the most beautiful wintry afternoon light for this family photo shoot.   There was also no shortage of posing and monkey-business going on.  Loved the absolute spontaneity that characterised these two precious little sausages.  They really made me giggle.  Beautiful, Beautiful family.  And shooting on Gowrie Farm was also quite pleasant with the amazing scenery, autumn leaves lying everywhere and the beautiful soft duskiness of the afternoon.  And then it got cold and we had to go in for some wine.  So very pleasant.  Thanks guys.

Family Photography | The Kamberg Valley | Steyn Family

According to the Kamberg Tourism website:

“The Kamberg Valley is home to a group of friendly, hospitable people who are gregarious, happy, experimental, social, fun, outgoing and wonderful people. The Kamberg Valley is one of the most beautiful areas providing easy access to the Drakensberg and the Midlands. Once you have visited us, you will be sure to come back for more.Visit the Kamberg and you will experience, peace, tranquility, vast open spaces, a community which are “the salt of the earth”. The valley is essentially a farming one, but as Kambergians are social “animals” we love to host visitors in our valley. Tourism has not taken away the Kamberg experience but has rather added to it.”

Well – if they Steyn Family were anything to go by – the above quote is pretty accurate.

The 4o minute drive up to their potato farm was pretty breath-taking.  As I wound my way along the Kamberg Road – passing the turn off to the utterly charming Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse – I felt lost in my thoughts and utterly at peace.

So the next two hours spent photographing the family in their garden and lovely home was an absolute pleasure.

Family Photography

It was an absolute privilege and a pleasure to photograph Melissa’s three children and their two cousins.  Little Claire May (love the second name cos its the same as my granny’s) certainly had a mind of her own but what a character.  And her little red shoes were the absolute berries.  I also loved the care and gentle way Benjamin treated his two sisters.  Going to be a formidable hand brake when those two get older.  Jennifer in the middle – what a precious little lady – who didn’t stop smiling – and what a beautiful smile she has.

And then the cuzzies.  Quite hard to get Mr Jason to smile but when he did – WOW!  it was worth it.  Both boys super cute with their little cousin.  So kind.  So gentle.  And so caring.  Thanks Melissa and Leeanne – for entrusting me with these precious photies.

KZN Midlands Family Photography

It was so divine to get the chance to photography Lara her two kidlets, Jenna and James and her sister Nicky. The weather didn’t look like it was co-operating but the clouds formed a lovely scrim, the incredible lush greenery that is the Midlands and the white daisies popping up all over the place helped with a lovely country backdrop.

La La – hope you love these. You’re a beautiful friend and person. Inside and out <3

Lara is a special to person to me. She was the first one who took the time to make me feel so incredibly welcome in my new home, the KZN Midlands and Notties specifically. My birthday was about 3 weeks after arrival and of course I knew no-one. La managed to garner a few people together for a coffee to celebrate and even gave me a beautifKZN Midlands Wedding & Family Photographerul scarf.
