Weddings & ME

How could one not LOVE weddings!  Each and every wedding I’ve shot has been so incredibly unique.  From decor to design, from minister to music, every couple’s individual style is etched from day one.   My task is to capture this.  I prefer a more relaxed, story-telling type of vibe. I love a wedding…..  Catching the in-between moments,  as well as the classics (for the mantelpiece). Designing a gorgeous Photo Album packed full of memories.   Sharing in the intensity and drama that makes up a wedding day!   My keywords I guess are:

RELAXED

UNINTRUSIVE

ENERGETIC

I usually only book one wedding a month maximum.  I am a mother of two boys who play sport, but anything is possible.   Exceptions can be made.  I prefer to meet my future bridal couple beforehand,  so that we can establish whether we will make a good combo.

It has been a long while since I blogged any shoots !  This colorful and happy wedding inspired me once again.  It also reminded me of these words by Kahlil Gibran ~

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see in truth that you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”

Saturday, 8th April 2017 was a very special day for these two wonderful people.  Leon Gryvie, our local GP and Terri, a beautiful and wild lass from the Eastern Cape.

A sunny day filled with joy, smiles, laughter, jokes, good company, good food and so much love…..even the Midlands weather played the game.

Congratulations Terri & Leon – here’s wishing you guys so much happiness, companionship and peace in the years to follow.  Thank you too, for giving me the opportunity to capture your wedding day xxxxx

HAY YOU!!!

KZN Weddings ~ Kirst & Wayne

Its taken me a long while to work out what I’d like to say about this wedding.  There’s so much.  I don’t want to leave stuff out but I also don’t want to ramble on :-).

When I first met Kirst & Wayne, I knew immediately that I was more than happy to shoot their wedding.  They both had such a gentle, warm vibe about them.  We went on to do their E-shoot down at the river (Mooi) and had so much fun at the time, I knew without a doubt that the wedding was going to be lovely.  Well.  It was so much more than that.  Its not always that you get two people, that you just know, deep down, are so totally meant for each other.  Who seem to just get each other and more than anything, really respect each other.  The foundation for a long lasting marriage I’m told (by my very experienced parents who’ve been married for over 50 years).

I hope I’ve managed to tell your story in the images below.  Watch how the anticipation, the nerves, the last minute details, the tears and the laughter unfold.  A lot of these images are the in-between-moments that I love so much.  For me, they speak volumes.

The ceremony, the speeches and indeed the huge party afterwards, were a magnificent testimony to the love that you two share, not only with each other, but also with your friends and family.  It was truly an honour to be a part of this and to have the opportunity to capture these memories that I hope will last you guys a life time.

KZN Midlands Weddings

Well, Nadine & Kevin’s nuptials were bound to be something special.  With Kevin & co. in full Scottish regalia and living in the very Midlands of KZN, words like Sporran, Glengarry and Balgowan, were all very familiar.

On a stunning summers day in the Midlands, the pair tied the knot on their farm between Mooi River and Rosetta.  Aside from being a guest at the wedding I was lucky enough to be there for the getting ready bits and waiting with the bride for her brother to come and escort her into her grooms arms.  For the ceremony and reception, they had another professional tog on hand which was great as I could relax and enjoy the occasion.  It was, in no uncertain terms, a fantastic one.  Kevin spoke from the heart.  Nadine was emotional for a bit while her hair was being done and then so so so happy.  Not so much a blushing bride as a bride enjoying her day to the max.  Food by the Rosetta Hotel was amazing and the decor by Ester Dobbins from Midlands Style Events was also exceptional and of course hair by the one and only Sarah from Knotts Salon.  Make-up was skilfully applied by Cindy Theunnison – 0834579518.   All in all, a very special day.  The pictures tell their own story.

Some advice for future brides from Kylie ?

My advice would be to relax and enjoy getting ready with your bridesmaids, the lead up to walking down the isle is such a special moment spent with those closest to you. I spent the entire day full of nerves and I wish I had chilled out a bit more. I would also say, in the middle of all the fun, stop and look around you, remember everyone there, is there for you 🙂

Funniest moment of your wedding day?

There are many funny and embarrassing moments, however I think my father forgetting his socks had to take the cake for me. He had this smart suit and shoes on, and every time he took a step you could see his skiny hairy ankles poking out.
