Wedding Photography KZN – Providence Country Estate

Well hello there Mr & Mrs Muir.  Blog is finally up with a selection of my favorite images from your absolutely gorgeous wedding day.  Hard to choose as there was a lot of choice.

Providence had to be one of the loveliest of the lovely wedding venues available in the Midlands area.  From the moment I went through to do my recce (having never shot there before),meeting with Fern and Bonnie and just getting a general feel for the location – I knew it was going to be a visual feast.

I am lucky to able to say that I have never had a Bridezilla whilst shooting weddings.  Each and every one of my brides has been a pleasure to work with.  Megan & Chris stepped it up a notch.  Both incredibly warm, kind people – I felt I was photographing an old friends wedding.  A picture of calm, as serene as a sun-lit swan (ha ha), Meggles absolutely took everything in her stride and honestly seemed to just make the most of every minute.

Lots of laughter, lots of good food, a radiant bride and an emotional groom.  A padre with a huge sense of humor and a penguin slide down the bed ~ lets hope these photographs tell the story of a truly special wedding day.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU TWO LOVELY PEOPLE – MEGAN & CHRIS – THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING ME WITH YOUR MEMORIES ♥

Portrait & Portfolio Photography | Cape Town | Dani M.

Portrait & Portfolio Photography

Let me just say outright – I love Portfolio Photography.

I met Sharon awhile back when she was starting her fabulous Chic Sugar business in Cape Town and I was still trying to build my portfolio as a Wedding & Lifestyle Photographer. We agreed to do a trade exchange a couple of times and ended up working really well together.   So, quick punt for her;  if you’re looking for something really amazing, stylish, different and VERY sweet for any type of celebrations go on over and have a gander at Sharons’ fab website.

Anyway – it being December and everyone in Notties allegedly skedaddling all over the countryside and the fact that I had a wedding booked – I decided to head to Cape Town for the December.  So it came to pass that Sharon asked me to do a photo shoot for her 15 year old daughter.

These are the results.  They are rather lovely but then again it helps when you have a “model” with exquisite features (even if she doesn’t know it herself).  Dani – you’re gorgeous – don’t ever forget it.

Vintage Farm Wedding | Seamus & Skye | Muldersvlei Wine Estate

Not sure when my love affair with all things Vintage started, but its been ongoing for awhile.  So of course, when I met Skye and Seamus and had a glimpse into her taste and style – I knew I was going to love capturing this wedding.  Skye’s Dad (I think) called it a DIY wedding.  The reason for this was because she (with a little help from friends and family) did most of it herself.  From the pebbles you could throw into the fountain to the hand-crafted Naughts and Crosses, you could literally feel the love, energy, effort and pure synergy that had gone into creating this happy and so very romantic, day.

The whole wedding was and is a beautiful reflection of their personalities and the love that they share.  Starting with the groom;  with a name like Seamus McCool – what’s more to say!!.  A laid back attitude, a best man like Barry and 3 handsome brothers all wearing “News-boy” caps made the groom-side of things easy (on the eye) to photograph.

Having said that, don’t let me get started on Skye.  Love love love her wonderful sense of style and inimitability.  Her warm personality, genuine love for her man and her truthfulness within herself showed in every part of the day.  Lots of real vintage lace and carefully selected bits and bobs all combined to produce a beautifully whimsical package.  Complimented beautifully by her Maid-of-Honour, Maxine, the little powder blue Morris Minor and all the love, support and well wishes of friends and family members – it was a day to remember by all I am sure.

Thanks Skye and Seamus – you guys were an incredible pair to witness and document in your declaration of love and foreverness.  I really hope my photies do justice to the kind of day it really was.

In the brides own words:

Where did you guys meet?

We met at a braai, on national braai day in 2008, my friend asked me to go with her to a braai (a friend of her boyfriend at the time) as she didn’t know anyone. I really don’t want to go, but she practically dragged me out of bed. It was pretty much love at first sight as we hit it off instantly… The rest is history I suppose.

How did he propose?

We went away for his birthday to Houwhoek Inn, where we had gone on our 1 year anniversary. We arrived ‘too early for check in’ and so he ordered us a picnic. We went and sat by the river in the orchards, and me being a bit doff just thought it was such an amazing coincidence that the picnic contained all my favourite things. When it came to the end of lunch he offered pudding, & started to fiddle endlessly with a jar of astros…just before I got annoyed with how long he was taking to open it, he popped the lid & the question…with the ring inside the jar of astros… Turns out, he has made the picnic himself & taken it up the day before.

Tips for you wedding day

Accept that something will always be imperfect. Either have time or money (if you’re lucky, both), I had time and so I made a lot of things myself/with a lot of help. It’s impossible to stay calm & happy the whole time during planning, know when to stop & smell the roses & when to have a wobbly…make sure you plan activities that help you prepare & provide a fun outing. Avoid renting things & having decor done for u, we saved like R10 000 at least by doing it ourselves & it made it an amazing process for us all.
