Trash-the-Dress / Wayne & Kirst

Some Trash-the-Dress lovin’

To be honest, I haven’t done many of these.  Why not you may ask!  I have no clue.  The are the BEST fun.  After the tension and high energy vibe of the wedding day, the t-the-d is such a brilliant “bring-things-down-to-earth” or soak the daylights out of them, kind of shoot.

Needless to say Kirst and Wayne embraced the trash-the-dress shoot for all it was worth.  The dress (which I’m relieved to say wasn’t really her wedding dress) was pretty trashed, well jolly dirty anyway.  Wayne , clearly a bum man, managed to cop a feel  on every single shoot  (note E-shoot and wedding day).  The fabricator (aka fascinator – and if you don’t know what it is, thats your problem) was also the subject of much humour.  Even Ruby, my Bull Mastiff princess, got in on some of the shots.  Think she was really a tad nervous that Wayne (or Kirst) was drowning especially with the lifting-up-in-the-air with copious amounts of water deluging in the face shots.

In fine form, the day ended with a yummy bottle of bubbles after huge amounts of mirth.

KZN Weddings |  Grant & Vera

It was second time around for both Grant and Vera.  They almost made it to the magistrates court but their nearest and dearest wouldn’t hear of it.

I’m so glad they didn’t! Instead close friends and family decided that they too wanted to share in their nuptials so  Granny Mouse Country House in Balgowan was booked.  A truly special  day and a testament to the path they have travelled to get there (which I gather was not the easiest).

Vera’s daughter, Jenna was a major part of the whole affair.   From getting dressed with her Mom, walking with her up the aisle, to the handing over of the rings.

Grant and Vera, the images speak volumes – you make each other laugh and enjoy each others company .  Two warm-hearted, kind and loving people, may your life together be beautiful, peaceful and loving going forward.  It was a privilege being a part of your day.

Thank you for choosing me as your photographer <3

Some advice for future brides from Kylie ?

My advice would be to relax and enjoy getting ready with your bridesmaids, the lead up to walking down the isle is such a special moment spent with those closest to you. I spent the entire day full of nerves and I wish I had chilled out a bit more. I would also say, in the middle of all the fun, stop and look around you, remember everyone there, is there for you 🙂

Funniest moment of your wedding day?

There are many funny and embarrassing moments, however I think my father forgetting his socks had to take the cake for me. He had this smart suit and shoes on, and every time he took a step you could see his skiny hairy ankles poking out.

Sam & George | Dargle Valley

So…..Sam & George hail from Hotazel.  To be honest I had never heard of the place.  Ignorant I know.

The icon of sweltering South African weather is the little village of Hotazel in the Northern Cape.

Ironically enough, Hotazel is not the hottest place in the country. Weather charts for the area register 37 degrees Celsius on the top end of the scale – and a chilly 3 degrees Celsius at the bottom.  Hotazel lies deep in the Kalahari, which in itself is a San/Bushman derivative word of ‘Kgalagadi’, meaning ‘the waterless place’.

Well, on the big day – rain was predicted but luckily for the couple (and the photographer),   the rain held off!   The day was quite warm and the Autumn colours were astounding.   The couple shoot was relaxed and when the crazy bridal party joined in,  it got a little more, well, crazy!!!
