KZN Midlands Country-style Wedding | Leon & Terri

It has been a long while since I blogged any shoots !  This colorful and happy wedding inspired me once again.  It also reminded me of these words by Kahlil Gibran ~

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see in truth that you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”

Saturday, 8th April 2017 was a very special day for these two wonderful people.  Leon Gryvie, our local GP and Terri, a beautiful and wild lass from the Eastern Cape.

A sunny day filled with joy, smiles, laughter, jokes, good company, good food and so much love…..even the Midlands weather played the game.

Congratulations Terri & Leon – here’s wishing you guys so much happiness, companionship and peace in the years to follow.  Thank you too, for giving me the opportunity to capture your wedding day xxxxx

HAY YOU!!!

KZN Weddings ~ Kirst & Wayne

Its taken me a long while to work out what I’d like to say about this wedding.  There’s so much.  I don’t want to leave stuff out but I also don’t want to ramble on :-).

When I first met Kirst & Wayne, I knew immediately that I was more than happy to shoot their wedding.  They both had such a gentle, warm vibe about them.  We went on to do their E-shoot down at the river (Mooi) and had so much fun at the time, I knew without a doubt that the wedding was going to be lovely.  Well.  It was so much more than that.  Its not always that you get two people, that you just know, deep down, are so totally meant for each other.  Who seem to just get each other and more than anything, really respect each other.  The foundation for a long lasting marriage I’m told (by my very experienced parents who’ve been married for over 50 years).

I hope I’ve managed to tell your story in the images below.  Watch how the anticipation, the nerves, the last minute details, the tears and the laughter unfold.  A lot of these images are the in-between-moments that I love so much.  For me, they speak volumes.

The ceremony, the speeches and indeed the huge party afterwards, were a magnificent testimony to the love that you two share, not only with each other, but also with your friends and family.  It was truly an honour to be a part of this and to have the opportunity to capture these memories that I hope will last you guys a life time.

KZN Weddings |  Grant & Vera

It was second time around for both Grant and Vera.  They almost made it to the magistrates court but their nearest and dearest wouldn’t hear of it.

I’m so glad they didn’t! Instead close friends and family decided that they too wanted to share in their nuptials so  Granny Mouse Country House in Balgowan was booked.  A truly special  day and a testament to the path they have travelled to get there (which I gather was not the easiest).

Vera’s daughter, Jenna was a major part of the whole affair.   From getting dressed with her Mom, walking with her up the aisle, to the handing over of the rings.

Grant and Vera, the images speak volumes – you make each other laugh and enjoy each others company .  Two warm-hearted, kind and loving people, may your life together be beautiful, peaceful and loving going forward.  It was a privilege being a part of your day.

Thank you for choosing me as your photographer <3

Kylie & Gerric’s Wedding | Cranford Country Lodge | part 1

Kylie & Gerric flew in from the UK to KZN for their wedding at the gorgeous Cranford Country Lodge.  Situated on the R103 near Currys Post, Cranford is an absolutely stunning venue for “country-chic” weddings. From the minute I met Kylie (bearing in mind we’d only ever communicated over email), I knew I liked her.  Warm, welcoming and with abundant personality we fell into an easy relationship straight away.  Her huge eyes and Greta Garbo style intrigued me the minute I had her in my lens :-). Not forgetting her husband, Gerric.  A gentle giant with an easy humour and an observant eye. It was quite obvious that Gerric was madly in love with his wife-to-be. The two met as young teenagers sharing the same high school lift club. From what I recall of the speeches Kylie didn’t even look twice :-). Or was it the other way around?? However, the pair soon got over themselves and got together in the matric holidays. Think we are talking 12 years ago now. Gerric proposed by flying Kylie down to Cape Town, driving through Stellenbosch, then along the coast and finally checking into a romantic, luxury beach lodge in Hout Bay. On the second evening, sundowners in hand, sun slinking low below the horizon, he got down on the proverbial bended knee……. So much laughter, and tears to match, the wedding was a study in procrastination. Only joking. The wedding was absolutely sublime. The mist that drew in slowly and eventually descended like a blanket on the proceedings only served to add to the mood and mystical quality of the afternoon and evening. Thank you once again Kylie and Gerric for the wonderful privilege of capturing your wedding memories.  I thoroughly enjoyed every minute.
