KZN Midlands Country-style Wedding | Leon & Terri

It has been a long while since I blogged any shoots !  This colorful and happy wedding inspired me once again.  It also reminded me of these words by Kahlil Gibran ~

“The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. Is not the cup that holds your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven? And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives? When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see in truth that you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”

Saturday, 8th April 2017 was a very special day for these two wonderful people.  Leon Gryvie, our local GP and Terri, a beautiful and wild lass from the Eastern Cape.

A sunny day filled with joy, smiles, laughter, jokes, good company, good food and so much love…..even the Midlands weather played the game.

Congratulations Terri & Leon – here’s wishing you guys so much happiness, companionship and peace in the years to follow.  Thank you too, for giving me the opportunity to capture your wedding day xxxxx

HAY YOU!!!

KZN Weddings ~ Kirst & Wayne

Its taken me a long while to work out what I’d like to say about this wedding.  There’s so much.  I don’t want to leave stuff out but I also don’t want to ramble on :-).

When I first met Kirst & Wayne, I knew immediately that I was more than happy to shoot their wedding.  They both had such a gentle, warm vibe about them.  We went on to do their E-shoot down at the river (Mooi) and had so much fun at the time, I knew without a doubt that the wedding was going to be lovely.  Well.  It was so much more than that.  Its not always that you get two people, that you just know, deep down, are so totally meant for each other.  Who seem to just get each other and more than anything, really respect each other.  The foundation for a long lasting marriage I’m told (by my very experienced parents who’ve been married for over 50 years).

I hope I’ve managed to tell your story in the images below.  Watch how the anticipation, the nerves, the last minute details, the tears and the laughter unfold.  A lot of these images are the in-between-moments that I love so much.  For me, they speak volumes.

The ceremony, the speeches and indeed the huge party afterwards, were a magnificent testimony to the love that you two share, not only with each other, but also with your friends and family.  It was truly an honour to be a part of this and to have the opportunity to capture these memories that I hope will last you guys a life time.

Roy, Lara & Adam’s family photoshoot | Cape Town

Finally got around to doing Lara’s family photoshoot last week.

Every time I saw her in the last couple of years Lar said she REALLY wants to do her family photies at some point.  Eventually I think I just said, “yes”, what-eva 🙂  Seriously tho’ – I honestly thought it would never happen.

Well,  clearly, it did.  And what an awesome experience and enjoyable few hours it was.  So easy to see that the little dude is the complete apple of both of their eyes.  Talking of eyes – see if you can spot his amazing duo coloured ones !

When I arrived at Rhodes Memorial there was a humungous film shoot going on – they’d taken over the whole area that I wanted to use.  So – we improvised and decided to try a few other spots.  Slightly out of my comfort zone but it worked out well in the end.  I think Roy was relieved he didn’t have to sit on one of the lions anyway, he he.

The light in the late afternoon was so beautiful.  Soft, gentle long shadows and snippets of light dancing on the grass made it look  like it lit from below  Lara looked beautiful, Roy didn’t seem to fazed by the whole photoshoot thing, which I thought he would be – and every so often Adam gave me a beautiful moment which helped capture the ties that clearly bind this beautiful family.  When Adam poked his Dad in the eye with a stick I thoughts its perhaps time to call it a day.

Thanks guys!  It was real.
