Su-Jana & Gunther | Preggy Shoot | Michaelhouse

KZN Preggy Shoot

When I got a WhatsApp from my dear friend Karen to say she was sitting with a very irrational mother-to-be (her sister) and would I be free for a quick preggyy shoot in the next day or two, I jumped at the chance.  After all, is there anything more beautiful than an expectant mom, glowing with happiness (and bursting from the seams lol!!).

Shortly after that,   Su-Jana lastminute.com’d me and we decided to go for it.   Cos, seriously, preggy fairies are just fabulous.  Despite looking pretty poppable, Su was game for anything I suggested.  Gunther too was happy to lend a hand and go along with whatever ideas we had.  So a tractor or two, a menagerie of farm animals, a forest at the beautiful Michaelhouse, long, swaying brown grasses and a railway line and bobs your auntie ~ lots of pretty pregginess!!!

With not long to go, Su-Yana was amazingly agile all things considered.  Take a peak and……watch this space.  Can’t wait to meet this little miracle in the flesh soon (so to speak).  Su – hang in there – tickety tock.  Thank you for being such a fun mom-to-be and wishing both of you all the best in the days to come with little Hugo man.

Megan & Chris | Providence Country Estate

Wedding Photography KZN – Providence Country Estate

Well hello there Mr & Mrs Muir.  Blog is finally up with a selection of my favorite images from your absolutely gorgeous wedding day.  Hard to choose as there was a lot of choice.

Providence had to be one of the loveliest of the lovely wedding venues available in the Midlands area.  From the moment I went through to do my recce (having never shot there before),meeting with Fern and Bonnie and just getting a general feel for the location – I knew it was going to be a visual feast.

I am lucky to able to say that I have never had a Bridezilla whilst shooting weddings.  Each and every one of my brides has been a pleasure to work with.  Megan & Chris stepped it up a notch.  Both incredibly warm, kind people – I felt I was photographing an old friends wedding.  A picture of calm, as serene as a sun-lit swan (ha ha), Meggles absolutely took everything in her stride and honestly seemed to just make the most of every minute.

Lots of laughter, lots of good food, a radiant bride and an emotional groom.  A padre with a huge sense of humor and a penguin slide down the bed ~ lets hope these photographs tell the story of a truly special wedding day.

CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU TWO LOVELY PEOPLE – MEGAN & CHRIS – THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING ME WITH YOUR MEMORIES ♥

FOOD STYLING by  Ronwyn van der Riet

Thanks very much to the lovely ladies, Anthea and Louise from APPCITY who referred me to JJ from JAYZ GRILL as they were looking for somebody to shoot his food for web, menus and possible billboards.

As you may know by now, shooting food is a bit of a passion for me.  Although on this particular occasion,  we didn’t manage to sample much.  Squirting glycerine on some of the dishes wouldn’t have helped either.  And, being so busy trying to squeeze in a fair amount of dishes in a limited time frame, we had to hurry up, style and shoot, style and shoot.  No noshing!!  No matter how tasty it looked.

Anyhow, it was such a huge help to have my food stylist/assistant with me on the day.   Thank Ronnie – your help was invaluable.   We would never have got through as much as we did, if it wasn’t for her.  That said,  some of the time she was so picky and finickety with her styling I thought I’d never get to shoot.

All’s well that ended well.  A happy Client + happy Designers = over the moon photographer and very chuffed food stylist.

Nothing beats working with passionate foodies.  I think I’m pretty passionate when it comes to food but when you’re photographing somebody else’s baby,  you realize, there’s passion and then there’s PASSION.

For the first time ever, on this particular shoot for Flavour Cafe in Pietermaritzburg, I decided to use a food stylist to assist in the process.  Despite the fact that I’m a bit of a control freak when it comes to my shoots and I prefer to work as a solo crusader, it was amazing having some creative and styling input from food stylist,  Ronwyn van der Riet. Watch this space for future collaborations with this dynamic chick.

Chef and owner, Lee Hankey was a legend.  He helped churn out some gorgeous looking plates and then let us do our thing.  It’s taken quite a while for me to blog this post, but here it is.  Let your tastebuds take a stroll.
